OVERVIEW
The Late, Late Show is an experimental play with music in three acts, written and performed by Paul Outlaw, created in collaboration with several generations of Los Angeles-based artists.
Outlaw takes the audience on a journey from the Antebellum South to post-World War II Los Angeles to the 22nd Century, as he plays an African-American man born in slavery in 1820, “re-born” as a vampire in 1855 and living as a creature of the night for the next three hundred years.
In this epic environmental production, scenes set in the mid-19th century are performed outdoors; a late-1940s speakeasy is recreated in a lounge area; and a theater's main stage is transformed into an arena in the year 2157.
The staging can be adapted to any venue with three adjoining or discrete spaces (two indoor and one outdoor).
Three acts... three centuries... three spaces:
a visceral and ferocious meditation on performance, transformation and community.
Available for bookings in 2014 and beyond.
